Description

Savor the rich flavors of this lamb kofta curry, served with a refreshing mint yogurt. Perfectly spiced meatballs in a creamy, aromatic sauce make this dish a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Kofta:

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Curry Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mint Yogurt:

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine all ingredients for the kofta and mix until well combined. Form into small meatballs.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook kofta until browned on all sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger, cooking until softened.
  • Stir in curry powder, turmeric, and cumin, cooking until fragrant.
  • Pour in coconut milk and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer, then add the kofta back into the skillet. Cook for 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens and kofta are fully cooked.
  • In a small bowl, combine yogurt and mint for the mint yogurt sauce. Serve with the kofta curry

Notes

For a spicier dish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the curry sauce. Serve with basmati rice or naan.
