Description

Indulge in the flavors of a classic cinnamon roll with this easy-to-make cinnamon roll cake. Inspired by Cinnabon, this cake is soft, buttery, and topped with a rich cream cheese glaze that will satisfy your sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Scale

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 2/3 cup milk
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    For the Cinnamon Swirl:

    • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

    For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

    • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 23 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter to make the cinnamon swirl mixture. Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture over the batter and swirl it into the cake using a knife or toothpick.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • While the cake is cooling, prepare the cream cheese glaze. In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and milk, mixing until smooth and pourable.
  • Once the cake has cooled slightly, drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top. Slice and serve.

Notes

For extra indulgence, you can add chopped pecans to the cinnamon swirl for a delightful crunch.
